A private jet crash killed six people including a pop singer in Colombia.

The Piper PA-31-325 Navajo C/R, operated by TVPX Aircraft Solutions Inc, went down shortly after taking off from Paipa–Juan Jose Rondon Airport on January 10 at around 3 pm local time.

Authorities said the aircraft, registered as N325FA, was en route to Medellin's Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport when the incident occurred.

Footage shows the aircraft accelerating on the runway moments before it reportedly lost control.

A report from the Aviation Safety Network said: 'A Piper PA-31-325 Navajo C/R (Colemill Panther 350hp conversion), N325FA, failed to gain altitude during takeoff from runway 05 and crashed at Juan Jose Rondon Airport (RON/SKPA), Paipa, Boyaca.

'The six occupants, including singer Yeison Jimenez, perished and the aircraft was destroyed by fire.'

The Colombian Civil Aviation Authority, Aerocivil, confirmed those killed included the pilot, the co-pilot, and four passengers.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Jimenez, 34, was a popular Colombian music artist with more than 3.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
