Crane collapses while putting up Christmas tree killing one worker
A crane collapsed while it was putting up a Christmas tree, killing one worker and injuring another.
Footage shows the heavy equipment lifting a section of the 100ft tree when it toppled under the weight of the base section in Manaus City, Brazil, on November 23.
The operator, Antonio Benjamin, dressed in a Santa Claus costume, was seen leaping to safety as the machinery tilted. He was later arrested.
The collapse destroyed parts of the tree and sent debris flying before the Amazonas Military Fire Department arrived to carry out rescue operations.
Two workers, identified as Antonio Paulo Rodrigues de Souza and Henes Liborio Ramos, were injured.
Antonio Paulo later died in the hospital while receiving treatment, while Henes suffered a leg fracture.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
