US: Officers Pull Driver From Burning Car After Utility Pole Crash
Bristol, United States - December 04, 2025 On Thursday, December 4, 2025, at approximately 3:52 a.m., Bristol Police officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash involving a utility pole on Washington Street near Garden Street. When they arrived, Officers Coby Vaccarelli and Robert Baek found the roadway completely blocked by a downed utility pole and saw a vehicle resting on its side farther down the street. Both officers quickly moved to the overturned vehicle and discovered the driver was still inside while flames were coming from the engine compartment. Recognizing the immediate danger, they began working to free her by breaking the windshield. Once the opening was large enough, Officer Vaccarelli told the driver that the vehicle was on fire and that she had to get out. Officers Vaccarelli and Baek then pulled the operator through the windshield opening they had created and carried her to safety, as Bristol fire personnel worked to contain the flames and secure the scene. The driver was later evaluated by Bristol EMS. Officials said they are very grateful for the officers’ fast actions in getting her out of harm’s way and that the incident did not result in any serious injury. During this holiday season, Bristol Police reminded drivers to obey the rules of the road, observe the speed limit, and never text while driving.
