BLUE MOUND, Texas — Two Blue Mound police officers are being credited with saving a man’s life after pulling him from a burning vehicle early Wednesday morning.

Around 4:57 a.m. on Oct. 29, 2025, Officers Aguilar and Ochoa were dispatched to Glenn Drive and Waggoman Road for a vehicle fire with a person trapped inside. They arrived within seconds and found the car engulfed in flames as the driver tried desperately to break out the rear window.

Officer Aguilar shattered the rear passenger-side window and pulled the driver to safety while Officer Ochoa attempted to break another window. Within minutes, the vehicle became fully engulfed. Fire crews from Blue Mound and Saginaw arrived soon after and extinguished the blaze.

Body-camera footage later confirmed how rapidly the fire spread, underscoring that the driver likely would not have survived without the officers’ swift actions. Both officers will be recommended for Life-Saving Awards at the upcoming City Council meeting.

The Blue Mound Police Department thanked all responding agencies, including fire crews, public works, regional dispatch and AA Wrecker.
