Phoenix, United States - December 17, 2025 12/17/2025 03:30 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – A suspect was taken into custody by Phoenix police officers after a brief standoff early Wednesday morning. A suspect driving a Ford Explorer was wanted by the Phoenix Police Department after reportedly fleeing from them, according to preliminary information. The exact details of why officers attempted to make initial contact with the man are currently unknown. The Phoenix Police Department's helicopter was launched to assist in following the suspect's vehicle as he continued to drive. The suspect's car was eventually surrounded by officers from the Phoenix Police Department's Tactical Support Bureau (TSB) on 53rd Avenue, just south of Indian School Road. During the standoff, officers deployed baton rounds and pepper bullets into the car's windows. The man ultimately surrendered and was taken into custody. The Phoenix Fire Department responded to the scene to assess the suspect for injuries sustained during the arrest. He was subsequently transported by firefighters to a local hospital for further evaluation.
