This is the dramatic moment farmers drove a tractor convoy through Brussels to protest against the EU-Mercosur trade deal.

Footage shows a line of farm vehicles moving past Brussels Midi towards the European Council summit area on December 18.

The agreement is strongly opposed by agricultural groups, who warn it could undercut French beef and crop producers with imports made under lower regulatory standards.

Thousands of farmers also staged protests in other cities against the EU-Mercosur pact and wider EU agricultural reforms, including changes to the Common Agricultural Policy.

The EU's trade agreement with Mercosur, which includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, was finalised in late 2024 but has yet to be ratified.

EU officials say it aims to open new markets for European exporters facing fresh trade barriers from the United States and growing competition from China.
