US, Los Angeles: Downtown Los Angeles LAPD Officer-Involved Shooting
Los Angeles, United States - December 19, 2025 12/19/2025 03:30 am GMT-0800 DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Police officers with the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Division requested backup for a man with a gun inside a vehicle at the intersection of 8th Street and Gladys Avenue. Shortly after, officers reported that shots had been fired. Officers held their position until additional units arrived and eventually took two suspects into custody. One male was believed to have been struck by gunfire. The Los Angeles Fire Department was requested to respond. According to preliminary LAPD information, officers conducted a traffic stop on a stolen Nissan Sentra at the above location around 3:30 a.m. Friday. A driver and a front-seat passenger were inside the vehicle. Officers were in the process of ordering the uncooperative occupants out of the car to conduct a high-risk felony stop when the front passenger was manipulating what appeared to be a handgun in front of him. At that point, an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken into custody. LAFD paramedics transported the suspect to a local hospital, where he was treated for gunshot wounds and is listed in stable condition. The suspect's weapon was recovered at the scene, booked as evidence, and will be analyzed by the Firearms Analysis Unit, according to the LAPD. Officers established a large perimeter in the area while conducting their investigation. No officers or bystanders were injured during this incident, the LAPD stated.
