Paramotor pilot crashes into overhead power lines and plunges into field
This is the shocking moment a paramotor pilot crashed into overhead power lines and plunged into a field in Malaysia.
The sports enthusiast had been soaring above the crowd during an aerial demonstration at the Duyong Cultural International Run 2025 programme on December 21 when disaster struck.
Footage shows the aviator hitting the electric cables, losing control, and tumbling onto the muddy ground in Malacca.
Participants, onlookers, and staff rushed to assist the pilot.
Local media confirmed the operator remained conscious and escaped without serious injuries.
Melaka Tengah Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, said: 'The incident occurred at 8:40 am in the rice paddy area of Kampung Ku Sayang. The pilot escaped without serious injury. The paramotor's equipment sustained minor damage, while no civilians were injured.'
Powered paragliding, also called paramotoring, is a form of ultralight aviation where pilots wear a motorised backpack to provide thrust and fly using a paraglider wing. Flights are usually conducted at low to moderate altitudes, often between 100ft and 3,000ft above ground.
The activity allows pilots to glide slowly over landscapes and is generally considered low- to moderate-risk when safety guidelines are followed.
