This is the heartwarming moment that a Chinese wildlife rescue unfolded when two local anglers stopped their fishing to save a nationally protected bird that was struggling to survive.

On December 13, 2025, in Lushan, Jiangxi, the video captured a black faced spoonbill whose beak and wings had been tightly tangled in a fishing line.

The bird thrashed in the shallow water, clearly exhausted and unable to free itself.

Seeing this, two anglers approached slowly and carefully to avoid frightening it further.

One of them gently held the bird steady while the other patiently worked to loosen the thin but stubborn line from its beak and feathers.

Their movements were slow and precise, showing concern both for their own safety and for the fragile animal.

After several moments of careful handling, the line was finally removed and the spoonbill was no longer restrained.

The video ended with the bird standing freely again before calmly moving away from the anglers and back into its natural surroundings.
