A brave student in southern China jumped into cold water to rescue a drowning woman.

In the video filmed near a bridge in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, the young man can be seen holding the woman in the water. Fire and rescue personnel immediately then lower down a ladder to help the two people ashore.

It is understood that the rescuer was a college student named Chen Yuhang. He was running nearby that night when he heard someone crying for help in the river. He immediately called the police and asked a passer-by to take care of his mobile phone and other items before jumping into the river.

Chen said he felt cold and numb after jumping into the icy water. Nevertheless, he managed to swim to the middle of the river and pull the woman to shore.

On December 22, Changzhou Public Security Bureau gave Chen Yuhang a commendation and award for his heroism. The family of the woman also expressed its gratitude.

12月20日晚，江苏常州一座大桥下面有人落水。消防救援人员到达现场后发现，一青年男子正托举着落水的女子，女子在河水中已经出现了乏力的现象，旁边一名青年男子一直拖着她，因夜晚气温较低河水冰冷，两人全身湿透，冻得直打哆嗦。消防救援人员立即进行救援，放下救生梯将二人营救上岸。
据了解，施救男生是一名大学生，叫陈宇航，当晚正在附近跑步，听到附近河中好像有人呼救，于是第一时间报警并请附近一名路人帮忙照看手机等物品，随后奋不顾身跳入河中营救。
陈同学虽然经常游泳，但跳入冰冷刺骨的河水中，身体瞬间麻木了。尽管如此，他还是奋力游到河中央，将落水的女子拽到岸边
希望借着岸边的浮阶能多撑一会，幸好河岸边有淤泥，他能勉强站稳，一手拽紧浮阶，一手托举女子，等到消防和民警到达现场后
，将他们两人救上岸。
12月22日，常州市公安局见义勇为指导办公室等，为陈宇航送上见义勇为表彰奖励，落水者家属也向他送上锦旗并表示感谢。
