A security guard's swift action saved the neighbourhood from a scooter blaze in southern China.

The CCTV footage was filmed in the city of Haikou in Hainan Province on November 11.

When the security guard named Wang Qianchun was patrolling on his electric scooter in a garage, he noticed a smoking scooter at the parking area. Without hesitation, he swiftly approached the smoking scooter, unplugged it, and began to drag it away. The smoke intensified, prompting Wang to pull the bike further away from the others.

As he maneuvered the flaming scooter to an open area, the situation escalated with visible flames. In a bold move to prevent a potential explosion and protect surrounding vehicles, Wang courageously grabbed the burning scooter’s front end and dragged it several metres away. He then accessed nearby fire extinguishers, successfully gaining control over the situation.

The 41-year-old guard recounted, "I was on night patrol duty, and suddenly I smelled something burning as I rode towards the underground parking. I found this scooter and, considering the risk of an explosion with so many vehicles nearby, I didn't hesitate to pull it away."

Despite sustaining minor finger injuries during the intense rescue, Wang applied his learned firefighting skills using multiple extinguishers and even brought in a water hose to completely extinguish the flames.

Wang Qianchun's prompt and courageous response lasted more than 10 minutes, preventing further damage. Residents of the community praised his heroic actions, acknowledging the risks he took to safeguard the neighbourhood from a potential disaster.
