Amusing footage has emerged from China of police officers rescuing a cat stuck up a tree by shaking the tree and catching the animal in a towel when it falls.

The video, filmed in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province on Tuesday, shows the two officers using a ladder to shake the tree, prompting the cat to fall.

Thankfully, they manage to catch it in what appears to be a towel or a bed sheet.

According to reports, it had been trapped for one day and one night.
