Locals used a cherrypicker crane to rescue a stranded pet cat on a tree branch.

Residents found the black feline crying on the 20ft-high hardwood in Rayong province, eastern Thailand, on January 3.

Climbing was too dangerous so they called the rescuers who brought the machine with them.

Footage shows the volunteer slowly being lifted by the equipment before grabbing the frightened creature.

The rescuer said: ‘The cat went missing for two days after the New Year. Neighbours found it on top of the three.'

The cat had ant bites and starving. Kind neighbours fed the creature and stayed at a nearby house until the owner picked it up.
