This is the stomach-churning moment a 7ft long python is caught after eating one parrot and killing another.

Video shows the offending snake inside a cage at an aviary in Chachoengsao, Thailand, Monday morning at 9am.

One green macaw - worth 30,000 baht ( £685) had been bitten and killed while its missing mother appeared to have been eaten by the hungry reptile, which had a bulge in its tummy.

Several eggs - each worth 5,000 baht (£114) were also missing - taking the cost of the python's meal to almost £2,000.

Snake catchers were called who arrived and dragged the angry python out of the cage and into the yard where it was bagged up and driven away.

Distraught bird keeper Sittichai Kongcharoen, 42, said: ''I'm annoyed that the snake could get inside and kill the parrots. They're very valuable.

''I will have to check all of the walls and roofs to stop any more coming. It's still not right to harm the snake, it's only their nature. He had a very expensive dinner.''

The serpent was driven several miles away and released back into the wild.
