Homesick soldier cries as girlfriend surprises him with birthday cake
This is the emotional moment a homesick soldier breaks down in tears after his childhood sweetheart surprises him on the parade ground - with a birthday cake.
Yuttasak Muatmeaung, 22, joined the army one month ago - the first time he had ever been apart from his partner of five years Moofar Sakulrat, 24.
He had complained of feeling down while adjusting to the strict regime in the Thai Army and was dreading being alone for his birthday on November 18 in Nakhon Si Thammarat province.
So after getting the all clear from the Sergeant Major, loyal girlfriend Moofar arrived with a candle-lit birthday cake and creeped up behind her partner before her friends sang happy birthday.
Footage caught the emotional moment Yuttasak was unable to hold back his tears and started crying in front of his new army pals. The pair then embraced and spent an hour together before Moo returned to duties.
Moofar said: ''I have been together with Yuttasak for so long. We have never spent a night apart. He had been in the army for one month and it felt like a year already.
''I missed him so much and he was missing home, too. For his birthday I wanted to make him so happy and show him how much I loved him. I wasn't expecting him to cry. It shows how much he loves me.''
Yuttasak's mother also joined Moofar on the parade ground. Her son fell to his knees and paid respect to his mum, before the family all embraced in a big hug.
Yuttasak said: ''I wish I could stay with them longer. It was the best birthday surprise I have ever had.''
