The sighting of a leopard created quite a stir in Eastern India’s Odisha state. The incident took place on Sunday night in the state capital Bhubaneswar.

The big cat was spotted frequenting the space of a commercial establishment in the city’s Palaspalli area.

According to reports by local media outlets, the leopard was first spotted by Bankanidhi Senapati, who saw the animal roaming around at around 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Senapati said that the sight of the beast made him nervous. He said only after the animal left the premises, he reported its presence to others, who at first decided to laugh it off.

However, when the animal’s presence was seen on CCTV footages, everyone was alerted.

Senapati further stated that the leopard may have strayed into the area after scaling the boundary wall of the Bhubaneswar airport.

Bhubaneswar DFO Ashok Mishra said the leopard could have come from the nearby Chandaka forest.

He also urged locals not to harass the animal and incense it, as the same could led it to attack and injure people.

A team of rescuers were sent to capture the predator.
