At least three people were injured after a leopard strayed into a village in South India’s Andhra Pradesh state on Monday. The incident took place at Ankampalem village in East Godavari district of the state.

The predator was believed to have come from the nearby Papikonda national park.

According to reports, two of the injured suffered scratches, while the third person suffered a foot injury.

The leopard was first spotted by Nerla Suribabu, a local farmer, who was cultivating his paddy field when the beast arrived.

Alarmed by its presence, the farmer quickly climbed a tree and alerted others about the leopard’s presence.

As news spread, more people gathered and this may have scared the animal, which in turned attacked the men.

Later, it climbed a tree. The incident was captured on camera. Footage showed the big cat parched on top of a coconut tree.
