A chilling footage of an avalanche striking a village in northern India has emerged. The incident took place in Goshal village, located in Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul-Spiti district on March 12 at around 12 p.m.

As the powdery snow rolled down the slope, people could be heard telling each other to run.

Within minutes, the village, which was already snow clad, was surrounded by another coat of fresh snow.

Reports said no casualties were recorded.

Visuals also showed snow forming a think blanket on top of minivans and houses.

When asked about the extent of damage, a local, who wished to remain anonymous, said, "Apart from the blockage of the roads, the avalanche strike did no significant damage."

However, he added the roads had remained blocked for a long time, as the place is receiving heavy snowfall every now and then.

Himachal Pradesh, located in the north of India, houses popular tourist destination like Kullu and Manali among others.

While it is a popular summer getaway, life can be harsh in the state during winters and the monsoons.
