A chase came to a crashing end when a suspect slammed into a bank in Woodland Hills, and then became engaged in a standoff with Los Angeles police early Tuesday morning.

At one point, police attempted a PIT maneuver at the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue and hit the suspect vehicle near the middle of the road before the suspect managed to drive away.

Ultimately, the suspect crashed into a Chase bank near De Soto Avenue and Ventura Boulevard.

Video from the scene showed a front window of the bank shattered.

Police had guns drawn as the suspect was barricaded inside the vehicle.

The suspect was armed with a handgun and had a tank of gasoline and was threatening to light himself on fire while inside the bank.

The barricade lasted for hours while police attempted negotiation. The suspect finally surrendered at about 4:30 a.m.
