A video has emerged of a man feeding a female Nilgai antelope in southern India.

The incident took place in Kerala state's Wayanad district on July 18.

Visual shows tourists passing by the road, stopping their car after they spot two antelopes near the forest area.

While one of the animals was busy munching grass, the other one slowly comes towards the vehicle.

It then sniffs its nose through the open windows. The man sitting on the backside of the car starts to offer it some crisps.

The man, not bothered by the dangers of feeding wild animals, is seen continuously feeding the antelope, while the driver is seen clicking photographs with the animal.

One of his co-passengers can be heard saying him not to stop feeding the animal.

Video also shows the man trying to cuddle the animal while feeding it. The animal is seen stretching its head inside the car window to grab the crisps.

The man then tries to kiss the animal's nose, but it soon retreats.

The car then slowly moves forward.

The nilgai or blue bull is the largest Asian antelope and is endemic to the Indian subcontinent.

Feeding wild animals near forest areas are considered dangerous and are banned in many wildlife areas all across India.

Feeding wild animals can make them become too comfortable in residential or recreational areas. Once animals learn they can panhandle for food and become a nuisance.

Feeding them food from or near are also rendered dangerous as they can be hit by moving vehicles or might try to enter vehicles in search of food.

Wild animals who depend on people for food can cause injuries or spread disease. When wild animals gather for food handouts, it can cause crowding and competition.

These unnatural conditions increase the chances of fighting and injury among animals. It can also increase the spread of diseases, some of which may be transmitted to pets and humans.
