A rare leucistic Zebra female grazing with a normal Zebra stallion

The Plains or Burchell’s Zebra (Equus quagga burchellii) is a common grazer in the southern African savanna. This leucistic female Zebra has abnormal colouration – her eyes are pale, not dark and her stripes are pale brown, rather than black. She appeared to be perfectly healthy and was part of a family herd grazing neat the edge of the Timbavati River in Kruger Park, South Africa. Her unusual patterning may be compared with the normal appearance of the stallion grazing with her later in this video. Leucistic animals are not albinos - they have paler colouration than normal, but they do have pigmented hair or feathers, unlike unpigmented albino individuals.
