Drone footage shows the devastation caused by flooding in the Philippines yesterday (August 14) after the area was battered by thunderstorms.

Six villages were swamped by the deluge after rains lasted for two consecutive days in the Pantukan area of Compostela Valley province in the south of the country.

The flooding affected hundreds of families with more than 3,000 displaced residents evacuated to a local sports hall and other public buildings.

Kent Simeon of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said that 17 houses were destroyed.

The villages of Kingking, Matiao, Bongbong, Fuentes, Tambongon and Napnapan were severely affected with flooding that went as high as four feet.
