Heavy rainfall brought by Typhoon Bualoi has triggered widespread flooding in northern Thailand, submerging homes in several provinces.

Footage shows fast-flowing floodwaters in a residential area of Ta Pla district, Uttaradit, with several locals seen carefully wading through the inundation on September 30.

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain on Monday and Tuesday for the North, Northeast, East, and the western coast of the South, due to the influence of the storm.

Bualoi hit Vietnam early Monday morning with winds reaching 130 km per hour, leaving at least 19 people dead and 88 others injured.

The freak weather had previously caused at least 20 deaths in the Philippines and forced hundreds of thousands of families into evacuation centres.

It has now weakened into a tropical depression as it moves towards northern Laos.
