Bus passengers helped to deliver a baby after the mother went into labour on her ride home.

The pregnant woman suddenly started having contractions on the coach in Cagayan de Oro City, the Philippines on August 18.

More than 20 passengers extended their help to the woman as her husband who did not know what to do when the labour pains started.

The emergency labour prompted the driver to detour the trip with all of the passengers still with them.

They were supposed to arrive at Davao from Cagayan de Oro City, but instead he drove to the nearest hospital along the way.

The woman successfully gave birth to the baby boy who will be named "Busty".

Passenger Mark Berjame, who was seated right behind the couple said that everyone was cooperative and no one complained about the detour.

He said: "Some of the women passengers who have given birth before told the husband what to do. We were all relieved when we heard the baby cried after coming out."

Medical staff from the Esther Hospital in Bukidnon immediately took the baby and the mother when the bus arrived in front of their emergency department.
