CCTV camera of front porch captures moment men run for their lives as blast hits building in northern India
This video captures the moment a blast hits a building in northern India.
The fatal accident, which claimed 24 lives, took place on Sept. 4 at a cracker factory in Batala city of the state's Gurdaspur district.
According to reports, another 26 were injured in the accident.
CCTV footage of the same showed a man sweeping the road while another stood there when the blasts hit.
As the men feel the tremors, they start to run towards a building. Seconds later, the area gets filled with dust.
It is not yet known if they survived the accident or not.
Meanwhile, the injured were rushed to the hospital. After the initial death toll stood at 10, on Wednesday evening, others succumbed to their wounds.
The blast was so intense that the facility was completely decimated.
Several teams of police and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been carrying out rescue operations since Thursday morning.
Condolences have poured in from all corners.
Indian President Ram Nath Kovind said he was 'saddened to learn about the loss of lives'.
Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh said he was 'deeply anguished' after hearing the loss of lives.
A grant of Rs 2 lakh ($2,782) has been announced for the family of the deceased.
