A bitter-sweet moment prevailed for a trader in northern India's Uttar Pradesh who had gone to bury his deceased daughter but found a newborn inside an earthern pot buried alive three-feet under.

Hitesh Kumar Sirohi, a resident of Bareilly, found the newborn girl on Oct. 11, according to sources.

She was soon rushed to a government hospital but was moved to a private facility later.

According to reports, Sirohi's wife had given birth to their daughter- a preterm baby- who died a few minutes after her birth.

He had taken her to the burial ground where his spade hit an earthen pot.

Soon it was pulled out and the baby was found alive, albeit breathing heavily.

The baby is presently recuperating at the private facility.

Meanwhile, she has drawn comparison with Sita, a Hindu mythological character.

According to the Ramayana, Sita, the consort of Rama, was raised by King Janaka and his Queen Sunaya after the former found her abandoned while ploughing a field.
