Delivery rider rescues pensioner from crashed truck
A food delivery rider helped an old man out of a truck that toppled along a highway in Singapore.
The man, identified as Muhammad Riau Alfian, had just finished with one of his deliveries when he passed by the vehicle, which had flipped onto its side.
He climbed onto the upturned truck and helped to haul the injured pensioner to safety. The group of bystanders then took the driver to the roadside and waited for an ambulance to arrive.
Ryan Hiroshi filmed all the heroic gesture in the city state on August 10.
He said: "Before I filmed the incident the man was trying to break the Toyota Dyna van's window using his hand covered in a cloth but the glass was too strong. Luckily, some worker in the scene passed him a crowbar which was more effective.
"The incident has made my day seeing the rider trying everything he could to save the elderly man."
Thanks to the rider, the elderly crash victim was safe and was conscious when he was taken to hospital.
The heroic driver was praised for his actions and the elderly man he rescued later sent Muhammad a gift basket as a token of appreciation.
But Muhammad declined the gift said he did not want to be labelled a hero for the act because ‘’everybody should try to help each other’’.
