A quick-thinking cop pulled a woman out to safety after she fell into the gap between the train and the platform while boarding the Kolhapur-Hyderabad Express (No. 11304) in southern India.

The incident happened at Bellari station at 20:30 on yesterday (December 21) as the woman tried to hop on to the moving Hyderabad-bound train.

S M Raffi, a constable with the Railway Police Force (RPF), was deputed on platform no. 2 of the station when he spotted the unidentified woman dashing towards the moving train.

According to railway authorities, the quick-thinking cop probably pre-empted her move and intuitively inched closer to the platform.

The CCTV footage, given as a media handout by the South Western Railway headquarters in Bangalore, shows the woman sporting beige colour sweater trying to board the train against its motion.

The woman tries to step into the footboard, but she couldn’t set her foot properly and rammed her body into the door handle of the train compartment.

Due to the impact of the collision, she lost her balance and her right foot got trapped in the gap between train and platform.

In the nick of the moment, Raffi appeared out of nowhere like a god-sent and pulled her out to safety.
