Brave villagers risk lives, carry sick woman for 5 kilometers( 3.11 miles) down the mountain in northern India
Brave villagers risked their lives by carrying a sick woman down the mountain in a makeshift stretcher in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand.
The incident took place on January 27 in the state's Chamoli district.
Visuals show the men carrying the sick woman in a makeshift stretcher down a treacherous forest path.
The men are accompanied by other villagers who are seen carrying the necessities required during the way.
According to the reports, the woman's health deteriorated the previous night and was unable to avail immediate treatment due to lack of doctors and hospital in the area.
In the end, the inhabitants decided to take her to the nearest community health centre in Karnprayag which was 3.11 miles away from the village.
Absence of road in the village makes it difficult for vehicles to navigate the hilly terrain.
