Airbus A320 BOUNCES on runway after hard landing in Chile

This is a moment a passenger plane suffered ''substantial damage'' after it bounced along the runway in a hard landing.

The Airbus A320 flew from from Santiago to Puerto Montt in Chile when it went to touch down on February 27, at around 5:40pm local time.

CCTV from the airport shows how the Jetsmart Chile flight JA-151 hit the runway and bounced back into the air. It then landed and continued rolling.

According to a report into the incident, the aircraft was unable to continue service and was still grounded six days later. The damage to the aircraft was ''considered substantial''.

A hard landing occurs when an aircraft hits the ground with a greater speed and force than a normal landing, which is considered as threshold hard is 2.6G. More than 3.5G requires inspection and maintenance.
