Elephant playfully squirts water in two directions at once, by squeezing trunk tip, apparently just for fun.
Play is an important part of any intelligent animal's life, even in adulthood, whether social play or #solitaryplay. To #BrightenYourDay, No.12 in the series, I looked back to 2012 and remembered a trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park, #Uganda where I filmed this imposing adult male elephant beside the #KazingaChannel. He was repeatedly squirting water sideways, in two directions at once, by squeezing the tip of his trunk. Why? He just seemed fascinated by the effect, and so repeated it time after time. It was not particularly effective as a means of dousing himself with water, and his feet were already wet anyway. Apparently he was just having fun! What do you think?
