This is the chilling moment a leopard strays into a human locality from the nearby Wilpattu National Park in Sri Lanka.

The incident took place on May 9 in Anuradhapura's Willuwa village.

Visuals showed the big cat roaming on a muddy pathway, understandably looking for food.

According to reports, the leopard has been frequenting the area after the country declared a lockdown, thus restricting human movement, to combat the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus disease.

With humans forced to retire to their homes, several animals have been seen wandering in spaces that are otherwise frequented by people.

The leopard was looking for a dog to prey upon, reports added.
