It took a determined effort by three rescuers to pull a dog out of a 65-feet deep well near Ahmednagar in Western India.

Residents of Nagardevale village called Animal Rescue Society and sought their help in saving a stray dog that had fallen into a well.

Rescuer Akash Jadhav and his team went to the village and one of them went down the well in a harness. The dog saw the man dangling mid air with a butterfly net and promptly identified him as a threat. It put up a fight, barking and biting, to evade him and risked swimming in the water than to land in the net he tried to put around it.

As the rescuer got tired, another team member went down and landed near the dog.
He tried a direct approach, which also failed to work, as the dog was determined to keep the rescuer at bay.

By the time a third member went down, the dog was also tired and surrendered to its fate.

The dog was pulled up and set free, and it ran away without turning back.

Akash Jadhav said: “The falling rubble, the crowd and the rescue attempt alarmed the dog. We thought it would be a simple rescue but it went on for a few hours.”
