Three rat snakes and a cobra got stuck in a huge irrigation pond near the city of Ahmednagar in Western India.

The footage shows the reptiles struggling to come out of the big reservoir.

The farmer who spotted the snakes immediately contacted the Wildlife
Rescue Society. The team, led by Akash Jadhav, rushed to the spot to rescue the animals.

Akash dived into the water, caught the three rat snakes with his hand, and pulled them out.

“Rat snakes are very agile and impossible to catch with a stick when they are in the water. Taking them by surprise is the easiest way to rescue them", explained Akash.

The cobra, however, turned out to be quite a challenge to rescue. Akash had to hold on to the rope with one hand and capture the angry cobra with the other.

A colleague who was trying to help accidentally fell into the water very close to the venomous snake.

The four reptiles were successfully rescued and released into the wild.
