A cobra regurgitated six chicken eggs after being caught infiltrating a coup in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

A poultry farmer found the serpent had slithered through the metal grills of the cage and preyed on a newly hatched chick and six eggs. But with an enlarged stomach, the snake was unable to escape.

A team from the Animal Welfare Society led by Akash Jadhav arrived at the site and carefully removed the serpent from the coup.

Jadhav said: "The cobra struggled to empty its stomach but remained highly aggressive. It could have been dangerous if an amateur had tried to catch it. Snake rescue should be left for professionals."

A poultry farmer had put seven eggs to hatch at a chicken coop near Ahmednagar in western India.

A cobra sneaked in through the metal grills of the cage and preyed on a just hatched chick and the eggs. But, with a bulging stomach, it was unable to take the same route to escape the cage.

When the farmer saw the deadly snake inside the cage instead of his eggs, he called Animal Welfare Society, in panic, and a team led by Akash Jadhav went to the village.

Akash knew that snakes get sluggish after a meal and regurgitate their prey when they feel cornered so as to make a quick escape. So after rescuing the snake he waited for it to do the act.

But the over five feet-long adult cobra turned out to be very aggressive despite just having had a hearty meal and tried to attack Akash a few times.

As a small crowd watched, the cobra spat out a dead chick, and six eggs. It was put in a snake bag and released in the forest later.
