This is the heartwarming moment a group of food delivery riders teamed up to save a kitten that fell into a filthy drainage canal.

The hapless moggy appeared scared while tiptoeing on the narrow ledge at of the dirty water after heavy monsoon season rain storms in Mandaluyong City, the Philippines on August 2.

The men used cardboard and leash as a platform for the cat so they could slowly carry it up to safety.

One of the riders, Rey Jalop Ladesma, said they were eating lunch at a nearby food stall when they saw the cat chasing a rat and fell into the canal and began crying for help.

He said: "Doing good is for everyone whether it is animal or human. We must not choose whom we should help."
