Rain falls on street while the other half stays dry in the Philippines
Residents were baffled after hevay rain started pouring on one side of their village, while the other half was left dry.
Junnel Garcia saw the strange rainfall pour in front of his house in Pagadian City, the Philippines on September 13.
He said they were all confused when the rain appeared to stop reaching their homes and the other half of the street remained warm and dry.
He said: "We were rushing to get back into our homes when the rain stopped. It was amazing because it's my first time to see this."
Junnel added that he waited for the rain to reach his house but it stayed where it was until it was gone after almost half an hour.
Superstitious locals believe that according to folklore, a mythical creature is having a wedding, which encourages strange weather disturbances.
However, the rare weather phenomenon is called "rain shadow."
A rain shadow is a dry area on the side of a mountainous area that's protected from the wind. The mountains block the passage of rain-producing weather systems and cast a "shadow" of dryness behind them.
