This is the heartwarming moment that siblings hid a new smartphone inside their mum's birthday cake as a surprise gift.

Arlene Gonzalvo celebrated her 54th birthday at a restaurant in Bulacan, the Philippines.

She has never owned a smartphone before but loves watching videos, so her relatives had the idea for the heartfelt gift.

The celebration was kept secret until they went to a restaurant where she was given a surprise birthday cake.

At first, she thought the cake was a brilliant gift, but she was even more delighted when she pulled the cake apart and found a phone underneath.

Her daughter, Edelyn, said they thought of surprising her with a smartphone because she likes to watch videos.

She said: “My mother took care of us and worked hard to provide. Now it's our turn.
So on her birthday, we gave her something unforgettable in the simplest way we know."
