Hurricane Iota caused fast-flowing torrents of muddy water on the Choloma river in Cortes, Honduras, on Tuesday (November 17).
Footage also shows strong waves caused by Hurricane Iota battering the coast of Corn Islands in Nicaragua on Tuesday.
The category 4 storm remains critical despite slowing down after moving across the region, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Iota's wind speed dropped to 65 miles per hour and weakened to a tropical depression by Tuesday evening. However, it left behind severe flooding in Central America.
Hurricane Eta had earlier caused severe destruction, killing more than 182 people and left 116 missing across Central America.
