At least seven were killed and nine injured after a landslide hit a nightclub in Colombia on Monday (November 23).

At least 20 people were reportedly trapped in the roadside club in Puerto Valdivia, Antioquia, according to preliminary reports following the landslide.

Officials said that ground on the hillside had been weakened by several weeks of heavy rain. More rain is forecast for the country and residents are advised to stay away from landslide-prone areas to avoid further harm.

Hurricane Iota has killed more than 40 people across Central America as of November 23. Most of the deaths have been in Nicaragua and Honduras and more than 40 others are still missing.

Iota is currently the strongest Atlantic hurricane of the year and is the second ever to strengthen to category 5 level since 1932.
