A team of veterinary services personnel treated an injured elephant in Sri Lanka's North central province on the morning of December 21. The tusker was found amidst the forest cover of Madatugama.

A video witnessing the incident features the team gearing up for the medical procedure. The personnel reach the spot in a couple of cars and immediately begin getting ready for the operation. The squad gathers around the back of an open vehicle carrying the medical equipment. The experts prepare injections and tranquilizers, following which the team approaches the woods on foot in search of the elephant.

The forest official carrying the tranquilizer gun is seen praying before initiating the mission. However, after the first shot misses, the team regroups amid a clearing in the forest to prepare another set of injections and tranquilizers, following which the mission is resumed.
