Beautiful female Leopard hunting Lechwe – followed by safari vehicles

Leopards (Panthera pardus) are one of the world’s most beautiful big cats, with a powerful build and a coat decorated with rosettes. They are usually very hard to spot, but this beautiful female stayed in plain view for over 30 minutes as she walked through the bush, hunting for prey near Mfuwe Safari Lodge in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. We followed her in two safari vehicles as she walked down the road, pausing to locate prey. After some time, she crossed the road and began moving along a grassy area near the river where a herd of semi-aquatic antelopes called Lechwe (Kobus leche) was grazing. She concealed herself by moving towards the Lechwe along a dry creek bed. However, the Lechwe seemed aware of her, and after a while, she gave up on her hunt.
