The South African National Defence Force have been deployed to enforce the heavy lockdown restrictions in Cape Town.

Footage from January 7 shows the lockdown level 3 regulations being enacted in the Western Cape, as members of the South African National Defence Force hit the ground in Mitchells Plain.

The SANDF will assist law enforcement authorities on patrols in hotspots across the Western Cape, including enforcing a curfew from 21:00 - 06:00 and preventing people from going on the city beaches.

The South African National Defence Force have rolled out onto the Cape Flats.
