There are often instances of a male cobra eat the female. But in this case it reversed. The male allowed the female to eat him after it matted her. May be he knew that she was starving.

This incident happened in the island of Pondicherry. Some people saw two cobras sliding together near a pit. So immediately they informed the forest officials.

Before the forest officials reached the spot the female cobra swallowed the male. "There was no big conflict many be the male has allowed the female to consume it" says the eye witness.

Later the forest officials rushed to the spot and caught the female.

Then the female regurgitated the swallowed male. On seeing this the forest staff explained "the female after matting with his partner some times swallow s the mate in order to get needed diet to lay eggs."
