Vadalivilai is located in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. In this place the pongal was celebrated as remembering or revisiting the century old games of Tamilnadu.

One such game is stone lifting. It was an amusement as the women and children also tried hands at ilavattakal a traditional game in which one should lift the a big block of stone and they should then toss it to ground..

Women and children are also allowed to participate here. There have to lift five stones in a row it starts from 45,60,80,129 kgs

Many women actively participated in this sport. They lifted stones that weighed 40 kgs. While their husbands cheered them up. They also lifted Ural (a rice pounder). The women who lifts it as many times is considered as the winner.
