A leopard got trapped in a wire while attacking a buffalo in a village in central India.

The incident took place in Muderi village in Madhya Pradesh, on January 29, as the seven-year-old leopard got entangled in a trap set up for pigs who destroy the crops in the field.

Footage shows a group of police and forest officials working to tranquilise and retrieve the animal.

The officers attempted to evacuate the area while locals tried to catch a glimpse of the leopard.

After capturing the wild animal, they took it for further medical examination.

Following its treatment, it was left in the forest cover of the Nasihar valley area at around 8:00pm.

The mammal is spotted grunting in pain after getting ambushed in a wire. The animal trembles on the ground while the authorities plan a layout to tranquillize and release it.

The officers evacuate the entire area while the locals are attempting to catch a glimpse of the occurrence. Following this, they prepare themselves and immobilize it with appropriate help.

Then they carry the wild cat and confine it inside a cage.

A team from Shivpuri National Park reached the spot, and Dr. Jitendra Jatav fired a shotgun to tranquillize the animal at around 4 in the afternoon. In the first attempt, they missed the shot, but for the second time, they successfully immobilized it and confined it in a vehicle after 100 minutes.

Then they put a cloth around the mammal and carried it to the car.

The team consisting of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Ankit Pandey, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), SK Bhargava, Ranger Poonam Gupta, officer Gajendra Lodhi, Station in-charge, Ravi Chauhan, Kadwaya police station in-charge, Vijay Bundela, reached the spot at around 10 in the morning.

They arrived together in the village and sprayed water on the leopard from a distance to ease its pain.

After capturing the wild animal, they took it for further medical examination.

Following its treatment, it was left in the forest cover of the Nasihar valley area at around 8 in the evening. Nearly 10-11 leopards are discovered in the region.
