Craftsman painstakingly repaints colourful Hindu temple in Bangkok
A craftsman has been diligently repainting a colourful Hindu temple in Bangkok, Thailand.
Footage shows the patient worker decorating the grey columns of the building with bright and intricate designs this morning (Feb 23).
He said he has spent the las few weeks painstakingly decorating the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in the Silom area of the Thai capital.
The building, also known as the Maha Uma Devi Temple, is frequented by mainly Indian residents in Bangkok who follow a mixture of Hinduism and Buddhism.
Thailand is predominantly Buddhist but the country has a long history of Hindu beliefs from when it was part of the great Khmer Empire.
While in the Vaishnavism sect of Hinduism, the historic Buddha or Gautama Buddha, is considered to be an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu. Many Thais are entwined with the mixture of the two religions.
