A man was tied to a tempo and dragged for nearly half a kilometer by his wife and her brother. Balkrishna Rathod, a resident of Surat in Gujarat state, India, got drunk on February 26 afternoon and fought with his wife Sheetal Rathod. She called her brother Anil Chauhan, a tempo driver, to intervene. Both thrashed Balkrishna and tied him to the tempo with a rope and drove down a crowded street to teach him a lesson. Some passers-by forced Anil to stop the tempo and rescued Balkrishna.

An angry mob beat up Anil and pushed the tempo into the roadside drain. Rathod was admitted to a government hospital with serious injuries. Police arrested both Anil and Sheetal on attempt to murder charge on February 27.
