Commuters from across Cape Town as bus drivers went on strike demanding better wages. The strike began as wage negotiations deadlocked between unions and employers.

Commuters at Mitchells Plain Bus Terminus stood in long queues from about 5am waiting to board taxis who struggled to cope with the extra capacity.

Striking bus drivers picketed at the Cape Town CBD bus terminus where they were addressed by union leaders. They pledged to continue the strike until all their demands were met.
