A clinic has opened in western India offering ayurvedic COVID-19 treatments including milk, cow dung and cow urine.

The controversial clinic in Tetoda village in Gujarat has one normal doctor, one ayurvedic doctor and five nurses.

The team believes that by combining ayurvedic medicine with science-based treatment and a proper diet they can help patients beat coronavirus.

The Indian Medical Association has come out strongly against ayurvedic medicine.

"[Indian gov't support for Ayurveda as treatment] is a fraud on the nation and gullible patients by calling placebos as drugs," the association said in a statement.

A village in north Gujarat has opened a covid isolation center to treat patients based on ayurvedic medicines made of cow urine, dung, milk, ghee, and curd called "Panchagavya" along with allopathic facilities. The Covid-19 care center has been set up inside a ‘gaushala’ (cow shelter) in Tetoda village in Banaskantha district of Gujarat. Apart from allopathy, patients are being treated using Ayurvedic medicines made from cow milk and urine.

Covid-19 patients are given treatment free of cost at the facility, named Vedalakshana Panchgavya Ayurved Covid isolation center.A special ‘Panch Gavya’ kit has been prepared from all cow-produced materials for the COVID-19 patients. The Goshala has also kept a stock of Oxygen cylinders in case an exigency arises. The isolation center has one allopathic doctor, one ayurvedic doctor, and five nurses who constantly monitor the condition of the patients. The center believes that combining ayurvedic treatment with allopathy, along with consumption of organic foods like cow milk, could help patients beat the coronavirus. Grass has also been planted around the center to keep the area cool for the patients.
